From high in the Sierra Madres flows the Cuale River, as it makes its life-giving journey through the mountains on its way to the Bay of Banderas. A truly integral part of Puerto Vallarta and its history, the river winds through Old Town. It is here that Rivera Cuale is located, on the river’s very banks.
Being situated on the banks of the Cuale River offers the unique opportunity and privilege of giving back to that which has given so much to the community. Caring for this most precious of resources is a responsibility that Rivera Cuale has embraced and incorporated into its philosophy of sustainable development. Incorporating nature into its design, Rivera Cuale is a tropical oasis in the city. With its 525 foot riverwalk, terraces, gardens and pools, it is easy to just relax and take in the surrounding beauty.
Hear the children happily splashing in the river’s cooling waters; see families passing time together fishing from the river’s bank in old-time tradition. Admire the white egrets perched stoically on the rocks as the water rushes by, or be awed as they spread their angel-like wings into graceful flight. Spy a sage old iguana lazily sunning itself in the glorious sunshine. Be cheered by the lush vegetation, the brightly colored buganvilias, and the many varieties of butterflies that float by. Close your eyes, take a breath, and be soothed and renewed by the gentle sound of the river tumbling along on its centuries-old pilgrimage to meet the sea. Open your eyes, look around you, and be reminded of a simpler time.
